I provide general Christian counseling services and also specialize in the area of grief and loss.  My work as a volunteer ombudsman for the Office of Aging has given me a heightened awareness of the losses we all experience in life.  Loss can take many different forms. The loss of a family member or loved one can significantly impact our lives. The loss of a job or a friendship can have rippling effects. Even the loss of one's quality of life or health through disease or disability can have significant effects on one's well being. If not adequately addressed, accumulated losses can impact one's overall functioning.   Drawing on the strength of the therapeutic relationship, I offer compassion and guidance to those I counsel.   Psychoeducation is a large part of grief and loss counseling.  To that end, various materials are shared with the client to educate them on the broader aspects of the grief journey.  While each grief journey is unique, cognitive-behavioral strategies can be used as an effective means for the sufferer to cope and conquer the difficult low times associated with grief and loss.
